Dr Gareth Thomas will be sharing his thoughts on a vision for the future of the NBN Trust as he takes up his role of Chief Executive Officer. He will also take part in a fireside chat with Tom Gray from the BBC to discuss “Engaging the Widest Audience for Nature”.

Dr Gareth Thomas PhD MRSB is a strategic leader operating at the intersection of science, policy, and business, with a mission to drive systemic impact for nature and society. Before becoming the CEO of the NBN Trust in October 2025, he was Head of Research Innovation at the Natural History Museum.

Gareth’s leadership on the commercial strategy for the Biodiversity Intactness Index (BII) has transformed it from an academic tool into a trusted data asset used by financial institutions, corporates, and policymakers to assess and manage biodiversity risk.
