Woodland wild flowers
Events: https://nbn.org.uk/event/woodland-wild-flowers/

Learn how to identify wild flower, grass, sedge and fern species which are typical indicators of ancient woodlands. We will consider what other conditions woodland flora can indicate such as pH, nutrient enrichment and presence of water sources and how to manage or improve woodland for its flora.  Methods of introducing ground flora to new woods will also be considered.

Woodland flora identification and establishment
Events: https://nbn.org.uk/event/woodland-flora-identification-and-establishment/

The morning session will be spent identifying woodland flora in the Forest of Falkland where broadleaved, coniferous and felled/disturbed habitats can be compared. The afternoon site visit to Formonthills Forest, Glenrothes, will offer the opportunity to see woodland wildflower introduction trials stretching back to 1998. We will also discuss woodland ecology and management over the course of the day.

Pine Marten and Wildcat Ecology and Surveying

The Open University has developed a new, free, online course – Introduction to Ecosystems:

Introduction to using BioVeL workflows for taxonomic refinement, biogeographic analysis, and species distribution modelling
Events: https://nbn.org.uk/event/introduction-to-using-biovel-workflows-for-taxonom/

BioVeL is a virtual e-laboratory that supports research on biodiversity issues using large amounts of data from cross-disciplinary sources. BioVeL offers the possibility to use computerised “workflows” (series of data analysis steps) to process data, be that from one's own research and/or from existing sources.

International Bioenergy Conference
Events: https://nbn.org.uk/event/international-bioenergy-conference/

This International Conference will showcase UK bioenergy research in a global context and will bring together world-class researchers in bioenergy, including academia, policy makers, industrialists and other related stakeholders.  It will include high profile plenary keynote speakers, subject-specific break-out sessions, workshops and poster presentations
