This is an ideal opportunity to learn the sounds of our native Scottish birds as well as identifying them.Participants shall visit several nearby sites including Killiecrankie, Loch of the Lowes and Loch of Kinnordy as well as spending some time around the Centre itself where we shall have one ‘dawn chorus’ morning when the birdsong will be at its best. The emphasis will definitely be on birds and their songs but participants shall not let interesting plants and butterflies pass by without stopping to look.On one evening participants shall venture out to listen to the ‘sounds of the night’; on others participants shall use slides to practice identification.

Russell Nisbet is now a regular fixture as a visiting tutor at Kindrogan and has an excellent knowledge of the local area and its bird life. He has been a nature-reserve warden for over 20 years but is now freelancing as a wildlife tour operator as well as carrying out survey work and assessing holiday parks for the Bellamy Conservation Awards.
