What is it that excites, motivates and inspires Kathryn to record?

“I have enjoyed looking for marine wildlife throughout most of my life. More recently, as well as recording my own cetacean sightings through the HWDT’s app Whale Track I have been working with them to verify other sightings that are received by citizen scientists. People across Scotland spend their time reporting sightings which helps with our research, not only knowing where the cetaceans are but where there are no sightings. I have always had a passion for learning about how marine mammals behave so being able to do this in a professional environment as well as in my free time is something that I really enjoy. Being able to help teach people how to identify marine mammals, recognise their behaviours and know how to act around these mammals whether that be on boats or in the water itself is extremely important for the future of these animals.”
