What is it that excites, motivates and inspires him to record?

“I have always had an interest in Birds and birdwatching, and I love working outside, so when the opportunity came up to work on a local golf course back in 1990, I thought it would be a great idea to combine my hobby with my job and look for some birds.  During 35 years of working outside on a golf course, I have become much more aware of all the other wildlife there is to see: Butterflies, Moths, Mammals, Bats, and so much more. What started as a simple hobby and a job has become a lifelong passion for wildlife and conservation, and recording everything I see & hear. I am always looking out for wildlife during my normal workday and love finding new species to add to the current site list.  I love to share my passion for wildlife & conservation with others, educate people, and often lead Moth nights, Badger watches, and Bat walks. I have also appeared on local TV & Radio & Radio 4. Recording what I see or hear is important; it provides evidence and hard data on population changes on the golf courses and elsewhere, such as counting the chicks in the many nest boxes we have, and on how climate change or other issues may be affecting them. My passion for wildlife has expanded into other areas and habitats across the UK, away from the golf course, including getting involved in several rewilding schemes, doing Moth surveys at a National Nature Reserve, and just looking for wildlife while on holiday.”
