Guernsey Biological Records Centre, managed under the Nature Commission

Guernsey Biological Records Centre, managed under the Nature Commission overview

The Guernsey Biological Records Centre (GBRC) collates, processes, stores and distributes biological records for the Bailiwick of Guernsey, for the purposes of monitoring and protecting the biodiversity of Guernsey, providing evidence base for land and marine management issues, and improving public knowledge about nature to inform decision making.

Biological record types the GBRC uses includes observations of species or habitat types, data from structured surveys, or casual observations; this encompasses both historical and ongoing biological records.

The GBRC works closely with similar organisations across the Channel Islands. It is in the process of creating an online platform for users to submit, explore and download records from across the islands, which will make records more accessible and the sharing of biological record data with the NBN easier once completed.
