Chair and Members required for Defra Science Advisory Council

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is inviting applications for the position of Chair and members of the Defra Science Advisory Council (SAC), an advisory Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) which provides independent and scientific support, advice and challenge to Defra.

Chair role

Defra is looking for a Chair who has the right qualities to take responsibility for the leadership and output of SAC. Details of the role, and how to apply

Members

Defra is seeking four members with expertise in the natural sciences and allied disciplines.  Three particular areas of interest are social science, animal disease control and system approaches.  However, a broad range of expertise is also sought, across Defra’s areas of interest – including but not limited to – marine science, biodiversity, air or water quality, and agricultural or plant science.
