London Natural History Society – Bird Census Methods for Gardens – a 30 year study

Location:
London Natural History Society Virtual Talks
Starts:
Thursday 8 July 2021, 18:30
Ends:
Thursday 8 July 2021, 19:30

This is a virtual London Natural History Society talk by Dave Dawson.

Most census methods don’t work in gardens. Dave uses a simple point count method in his garden and his results show interesting trends.

This event is being run jointly with the Ecology and Conservation Studies Society as part of their Gardening for Wildlife series with a focus on best practice and good applied science.

Most census methods don’t work well in sites as small as a single garden. Dave has studied a simple point count method in his Wimbledon Park garden. He can recommend how to count birds in such small places. The 33 years’ of results show interesting trends for many bird species.
