Edinburgh University Citizen Science mini-symposium

The Edinburgh University Citizen Science and Crowdsourced Data and Evidence Network are hosting a mini-symposium on the 28th April.

At the event, Christine Johnston, newly appointed as the NBN’s Scottish Liaison Officer, will be talking about the Atlas of Living Scotland.

Theme

The theme of the mini-symposium is ”Getting involved in the life-sciences – bringing ecology to the citizen” and aims to showcase citizen science projects connected to ecology or evolution within Scotland or connected to Edinburgh University.

Speakers

As well as Christine, other speakers will be:

  • Rob Cubey on Citizen Science Projects hosted at the The Royal Edinburgh Botanic Gardens
  • Ally Phillimore describing Christine Tansey’s Track-a-Tree project where volunteers can help measure the progress of Spring
  • Jonathan Silvertown, who will be taking about iSpot, the community that identifies observations of flora and fauna submitted by the public.

The event is from 2.15pm to 5.00pm on Thursday 28th April 2016 in the School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh.

Admission is free, but eventbrite registration is required because numbers are limited.
